Without the specifics on the topics within math, I can only tell you that you have to something interesting or some perculiar problems that appears to be completed unrelated to your topics and show the audience why the topics you have matters in the problems and it can apply to everyday life or depending on the audience, using the topics you talk about to their advantages.
It's like any presentation. You have to grab your audience's attention very quickly if they are not particularly interested in the topics you are dicussing. You entice them into your presentations and keep them at the edge of their seats with new revelations as the presentation goes on.

1. First do your research and make sure you understand everything.
2. Pick an interesting introduction on your report which will grab your audience attention. For instance, if somebody reports a topic about algebra then he/she needs to tell why is this important to us.
3.Show consistency.
4.Just have fun and show that you are really dedicated to your report.
