1) A rectangular picture frame contains a 12” × 14” picture. What is the width of the frame if the total area of picture and frame is 288 square inches?

2) A metric print (picture) is square with sides of 15 cm. If it is to be enlarged so as to double its area, how much will the length of a side be increased?

3) A rectangle is 10 units longer than it is wide. When the length is decreased by 2-units and the width is increased by 3, the area is 141 square units. Find the original dimensions.

I have a new Job (woot woot) lol I'm a bit over excited hahaha, now I can finally quit my crappy job!

I've being working Part time the past years, because I've being studying in High School & College.
I've being paid by the hour (wages) and with the new job I'm given a Salary Package of $41,000 + Super Annuation & bonuses and stuff.

The Question is, How much do I get payed an hour?
I will work 40 hours a week.

So it's 41,000 divded by 52(weeks) = $788.45
$788.45 divided by 40(hours) =$19.70

so I can defiantly say $19.70 an hour?

lol hahahaha I know I kind of sound dumb, but is my calculations right?....$19.70/hour

How much does the superannuation take?

Question: Suppose you know that the series SUM(bn) from n=1 to infinity converges. What can you say about the series SUM(bn^n) from n=1 to infinity?
Answer: I believe the series converges absolutely by the ROOT test since limit |bn|=0 as n goes to infinity for a convergent series.

for the problem y = 4 cos (x/2 + pi/2) there are 2 ways to discover the period.

1. period = 2pi/b and in this case (x/2 + pi/2) = 1/2(x + pi)
thus 2pi/.5 = 4pi

2. however when I try and solve algebraically for the inequality:
0 less than equall to 1/2(x+pi) less than equall to 2pi
I always get an interval of -pi, pi wich has a period of 2pi.

What am I doing wrong in # 2?

The starting equation was 1/√x which i plugged into the theorem and got this {(x^(1/2) - (x+h)^(1/2)}/{h(x+h)^1/2(x)^(1/2)} So i changed it to ^1/2 to make it eaiser. But i can not figure out how to get the h out of the top to cancel out the bottom so i can plug 0 in for h. Any help on the 2nd step would be wonderful.

Thanks,
