This is what I did so far - Please help
4y+5+y=2
5y+5=2
5y= -3
y = -3/5

4(-3/5) + 5 + (-3/5) = 2
-12/5 + 5 + (-3/5) = 2
-15/5 + 5 = 2
-3 + 5 = 2
Why don't I have fractions for the answer?

Is there a way to find the vertex of a circle? Like, say there is a circle and you need to find the diameter of it. You can only do that if you know where the vertex is so how do you do it?

Let f: X->Y be a function, and suppose that x0 exists in X and y0 exists in Y and satisfy (x0, y0) exist in f. If (x,y) exists in f and x != x0, then y != y0.

I really have no idea what I am even supposed to prove any explanations would be greatly appreciated :)

Having trouble with these homework problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Find the parametric equations of the tangent line at the point (-2,2,4) to the curve of intersection of the surface z= 2x^2 -y^2 and the plane z= 4.

Also, another problem that I could not figure out which deals with partial derivitives is:

A package in the shape of a rectangular box can be mailed by U.S Parcel Post if the sum of its length and girth (the perimeter of a cross-section perpendicular to the lengh) is at most 108 in. Find the dimensions of the package with largest volume that can be mailed by Parcel Post.

Thanks for any help again:)

I am a student at a high school that uses the Integrated Mathematics Program. I really would like to see actual statistics that show IMP is a better way of learning math than traditional math lessons. I really do not feel that I have learned much and there is no possible way to study out of the textbook. I consider the textbook to be a book full of questions rather an actual learning tool because there are no lessons in the actual book. The only information given about how to solve the problem is given by the teacher and it usually is brief and what is I believe, not much use in real life, unless if I were to figure out the probability of events or finding out how to put a certain problem in summation notation. Most of the students I know do not like IMP and were so glad they had traditional math problems on our PSAT, rather than all word problems. Please show me official statistics that show IMP is a better way to learn IMP, and your own personal opinions.
