Having trouble with these homework problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Find the parametric equations of the tangent line at the point (-2,2,4) to the curve of intersection of the surface z= 2x^2 -y^2 and the plane z= 4.

Also, another problem that I could not figure out which deals with partial derivitives is:

A package in the shape of a rectangular box can be mailed by U.S Parcel Post if the sum of its length and girth (the perimeter of a cross-section perpendicular to the lengh) is at most 108 in. Find the dimensions of the package with largest volume that can be mailed by Parcel Post.

Thanks for any help again:)

Well, you made a typo -- the perimeter of the cross section is not the same as the length + girth. What's more, there's surely a second constraint (the third dimension can't be infinitely long).

So you probably should re-ask the second one separately.

First, it is dependent upon what the content material of Calc three is composed of. For my university calc used to be cut up into four phases, however a few faculties cut up into two, three, or five segments. I am underneath the belief that your calc three will probably be dealing often with series/sequence and probably a few multi-variable calculus as good. In that case you've got the groundwork already and will take Diff-eq earlier than,in the course of, or after you are taking Clac3. The most effective variable on this equation is the leisure of your time table. From my enjoy Calc3 used to be some of the less difficult math categories I needed to take and I truthfully loved the content material (good, relative to different topics). Diff-eq alternatively I determined totally counter-intuitive and nearly spent the semester memorizing a host of steps that could permit me to get through. At no factor did it ever "click on" with me, at first-rate all it did used to be aid my sample-realization skills and memorization. If that's how different felt approximately the 2 topics then I recommend you prefer the timing of every path to first-rate steadiness your time table load. Take Diff-eq you probably have a lighter path-load and Calc3 whilst the leisure of your categories are rough. On the opposite hand for the reason that you're doing good in Calc2 (high-quality process!) it usually does not topic an excessive amount of whilst you are taking them, you're usually shrewd sufficient to manage it both approach. Good success!
