k well 3(a-5)=-6
first: distribute 3(a-5) so 3 times a= 3a and 3times 5= 15
=3a-15=-16
= then you do the opposite from both sides so...
add -15 to -16 which is like adding 2 negatives. so it would be -21
=3a=-21
=now do opposite of 3a to both sides so...3 divided by 3 cancells eachother out and 3 divided by -21
a= -7
there u go!!! hope i helped

1. First, distribute the 3.
3a-15= -6
2. Group like terms.
3a= -6+15
3. Simplify.
3a= 9
a=3

thats a weird problem because if u use the distruibutive property u get 3*a-3*15 whitch is 3a-15 whitch means that 3a has to equal somthing less then 5, so if a=3 then 3a would equal 9 so 9-15=(-)6, hope that helped a little

first u have to distribute-3a-15=-6
then you have to add 15 to get rid of it so you'll just have 3a on one side so..3a=9
then you divide...so a=3 and there you go...
