I read somewhere that people who are really good at math understand the concepts behind it, rather than simply knowing how to do it? What does this mean? Tips on how to do this?

ok look i need for u smart people to give me the answer and describe to me of how u got the answeres

y= 5+x (solve for y & x)

Please show steps, thanks.
I got the first step:
y= a(x-3)^2+5
then i sub in the point:
-3=a(1-3)^2+5 ,after this im stumped of what to do

I know this sounds like a stupid question but I got really sick and missed a ton of class so im being really paranoid about getting everything right. So thanks if you'll help.

Are two different triangles always, sometimes, or never congruent? I have sometimes. Is this right. Once again thanks and sorry for such a stupid question.

52 Manchester United games are observed. The league position of Manchester and their opponent are taken before the game.
i.e. If Manchester are 4th placed and Liverpool are 8th then Manchester have +4points. If Manchester are 9th place and Arsenal 2nd then Manchester have -7points.

After 52 games it was observed that:
+19 points [2wins to Manchester, 0 draws, 0 losses]
+17 [3,0,0]
+15 [1,1,0]
+14 [0,1,0]
+11 [2,1,0]
+8 [0,0,1]
+5 [2,0,0]
+4 [2,1,0]
+2 [6,2,0]
+1[1,1,1]
-1 [2,0,2]
-3 [1,3,5]
-5 [0,1,0]
-6 [0,1,4]
-9 [1,0,1]
-12 [0,1,2]

From this data what equation can be used to calculate the probability of a Manchester United win, draw or loss for any given points (league placing) between the two teams?

i.e. From this data what is the probability of Manchester winning if they are 3rd place against 2nd place Chelsea?

Hope this makes sense, sure there is some statistical method that can be applied to this.

Thanks.

Two populations of bacteria are growing exponentially in separate petri dishes. The population in the first dish has growth constant 0.13 and initial population 2000. The population in the second dish has growth constant 0.08 and initial population 5000.

Part 1. Find the time at which the popluations are equal. Your answer must be correct to two decimal places.

Part 2. What is the common value of the two populations at that time? Round your answer to the nearest whole number.

If you can do this problem, let God be with you (lol)

Example, for k=6, and n=20 what is the probability of having every side of {1,2,3,4,5,6} show up at least once out of 20 rolls.
At first thought it would be (1-(5/6)^20)^6 but that is wrong since for 5 rolls (1-(5/6)^5)^6=.045 but it should be zero percent chance as it's impossible for all 6 sides to show up in only 5 rolls.

k=2, n=5 would be the probability of both {heads} and {tails} showing up at least once out of 5 flips of the coin.

etc.

Looking for the general case.
