g means grams (mass)
mL means milliliters (volume)
so g/mL is a density (mass/volume)

gal means gallons (volume)
L means liters (volume)
so gal/mL is a pure number (volume/volume)

No numerical constant convert between dimensions. It is like asking how many pounds are there in one second?
