Two bags contain coloured balls.
Bag A contains 5 black balls and 3 white balls.
Bag B contains 6 black balls and 5 white balls.
A ball is drawn at random from Bag A. If a black ball is drawn from Bag A, it will be put back into Bag A. If a white ball is drawn from Bag A, the white ball drawn will be put into Bag B. A second ball is then drawn at random from Bag B.

(i) Calculate the probability that the two balls drawn are both black.
Ans: 15/44

(ii) Calculate the probability that the two balls drawn are of a different colour.
Ans: 83/176

can someone give me this very hard questions answer?

(9 raised to the power of 62773 + 2) raised to the power of 83721

it may look like this:

(9 62773 + 2) 83721

since they are squares, they should be small.

there are n people, standing in a circle, first person have a gun, he kills the the person standing next to him, and passes the gun to the next living man, the person who recieves the gun, does the same, this is continued till 1 person in the circle stays alive with a gun. i want to know the number of the last man who is alive with the gun.
example; n=5, first guy kills the 2nd one and passes the gun to the 3rd guy, 3rd kills 4th and 5th recieves the gun, 5th kills the 1st and 3rd recieves the gun, 3rd kills 5th, so 3rd survives.

Write down an expression, in terms of n, for the nth term of the sequence 1, 7, 13, 19, 25, 31, ...

The answer is 6n - 5

I don't understand why it is -5. I know it's 6n as the term increases by 6 down the sequence..But why do you need to put a -5 at the back? Pls explain

Sorry had to repost this, made a big mistake:

I asked this question on answers:
find the limit as n->+infinity:

Lim ((n^3 - 5n^2 + n + 2)^(1/3)-n)

I got the following answer:
-----------------------------
Let's make life simple.
As n --> infinity, the smaller powers of n become negligible
n^3 - 5n^2 + n + 2 --> n^3 - 5n^2 = n^3 * (1 - 5/n)
So the expression tends to
n*[(1-5/n)^1/3] - n
= n* [ 1 - 5/(3n) + O(1/n^2)] - n
= n - 5/3 - n
= -5/3
----------------------

which is right, but I have no idea how he went from:
=n*[(1-5/n)^1/3] - n to: = n* [ 1 - 5/(3n) + O(1/n^2)] - n

I really want to be able to understand this, so that I can do it in the future myself without help, but I have no idea what he did.

Take the equation below, trace the steps, and tell me what happened to variable C.

A = B + C (multiply both sides by (A - B))

A(A - B) = (A - B)(B + C) (multiply this out)

A^2 - AB = AB + AC - B^2 - BC (now subtract AC from both sides)

A^2 - AB - AC = AB - B^2 - BC (now simply each side by factoring)

A(A - B - C) = B(A - B - C) (now divide both sides by (A - B - C)

A = B (what happened to C?! My original equation stated that A = B + C, not that A = B. Where did C go?)

In a game of chance, 2 cards are drawn at random from a pack of playing cards without replacement. An ace has a value of 1 and all picture cards have a value of 10 each.

What is the probability of

(i) drawing 2 picture cards,

(ii) drawing 2 cards having the same picture (that is 2 kings or 2 queens or 2 jacks).

(iii) the cards drawn having a total value of 18

Please show your steps clearly..
