In the following case, the set of vectors {v1, · · · , vn} forms an orthonormal basis for the corresponding Euclidean vector space Rn.
Find an expression for the given vector w in terms of this basis.

n = 2
v1 = | (1/ √2) (1/ √2) |^T
v2 = | (1/ √2) (-1/ √2) |^T
w = | 4 9 |^T

Thanks for all the help, I'm really stuck on this one!

Show that an equation of the line having x-intercept a and y-intercept b is x/a + y/b = 1. This is called intercept form.

How do I do this? Please help and be clear in all steps. Thanks in advance

The expression f(x)=ax^3-(a+3b)x^2+2bx+c is exactly divisible by x^2-2x. When f(x) is divided by x-1, the remainder is 8 more than when it is divided by x+1. Factorise f(x) completely. Find the range of values of x for which f(x)<0.

How do you get rid of c? It doesn't allow me to do simultaneous eqn. if you factorise x^2-2x=x(x-2), does it mean if you let x=0, then f(0)=c, c=0"?
