Two pipes are bound tightly together with a very thin wire as in the diagram. The radii of the pieces are 2in and 6in. Neglecting any practical allowance for security (meaning only wrapped once), determine the minimal length of the wire.

i tried my best to do the diagram and upload it here, its rough but i think you can get the general idea. could someone please help me with it?

4GB (GB = 10^9 bytes)
MP3 player dimensions: 32mm X 24mm X 2.1mm

how many bytes of memory are stored in a cube whose sides are 100 micrometers?

so i understand that there is a total of 4.0X10^9 bytes in the entire mp3 player. there is also 10X10^6 micrometers cubed for each cube. i believe i should convert the total volume to micrometers, then divide the total volume by the volume of 1 cube. once i have that value, it should provide the total number of boxes. if that's correct, then i should be able to divide that value by the total number of bytes... but it's not workin' out.

someone please help me =)

Well this practice problem in my AP Calculus practice book has a strange problem giving me a hard time. It says:
"Each limit represents the derivate of some function f at some number a. State such an f and a in each case".

and the problem is...
lim h---> o of...
(1+h)^10 - 1
---------------- [divided by]
h

I tried using the definition of a derivative and also the alternate definition of a derivative [aka: derivative at a point] and I didn't quite get the answer from the answer key. So, how is this actually done?

Hi, I'm stuck on a question about square matrices for quite a long time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1. Let A and B be square matrices with the same size.
a) Give an example in which (A+B)^2 =/ (does not equal to) A^2 + 2AB + B^2
b) Fill in the blank to create a matrix identity that is valid for all choices of A and B. (A+B)^2 = A^2 + B^2 + _______.

2. Let A and B be square matrices with the same size.
a) Give an example in which (A+B)(A-B) =/ (does not equal to) A^2 - B^2
b) Fill in the blank to create a matrix identity that is valid for all choices of A and B. (A+B)(A-B) = ____________.

Thanks!

Here are the problems:

I'm not expecting nor asking you to directly give me the answer, (I hope you won't!)
I just want to know what steps I would need to make in order to get the answer. Like how exactly do I solve the problem?

Can someone validate this problem for me:

1. Write the product in standard form: (5x-9y) (5x+9y)

---Well, i know that you have to square both the first and last terms seperately, so: First term = 5x, Last term = 9y.

(5x-9y) (5x+9y) = (first term)^2 and (last term) ^2.
= (5x)^2 and (-9y)^2
= 25x^2 + 81y^2

......Is my answer correct, if not please tell me where my mistake was. I would really appreciate it.
