Easiest way is to convert to improper fractions and then multiply numerator by numerator and denominator by denominator.

In this problem, just throw the negative signs away, two negatives make a positive.

1 5/9 = 14/9

2 1/7 = 15/7

14/9 x 15/7 = (14x15)/(9x7)
= 210/63
= 10/3
= 3 1/3
