I think they were supplied so that you could compute for the perimeter, the area and the volume.
Perimeter:
= 2(x + 8 + x)
= 2(2x + 8)
= 4x + 16
Area:
= x(x + 8)
= x^2 + 8x
Volume:
= x(x + 8)(x + 7)
= (x^2 + 8x)(x +7)
= x^3 + 7x^2 + 8x^2 + 56x
= x^3 + 15x^2 + 56x
Take your pick. I think that's the only help I could offer.

What do you want to find?
Volume, Surface Area, x
What is the figure?
You said it's a cube, but I'm going to assume you meant rectangular prism. Cube's have all sides equal and there is no way that x + 8 = x + 7
Volume = lwh
(x + 8)(x)(x + 7)
(x^2 + 8x)(x + 7)
x^3 + 15x^2 + 56x

I think you need the volume:
V = l*w*h
V = (x+8)(x)(x+7)
it is easiest to multiply the (x+8)(x+7) first and then multiply by x, because once you multiply those first, then you can just add on degree to each term:
(x^2 +15x +56)(x)= x^3+15x^2 +56x=V
V=x^3+15x^2+56x

multiply all three sides
(x)(x+8)(x+7)
foil (x+8) and (x+7) and add like terms => (x^2 + 8x +7x +56) = (x^2 +15x +56)
multiply (x) and (x^2 +15x +56) => (x)(x^2 + 15x +56) = (x^3 +15(x^2) +56x)
so your answer is x^3 +15x^2 + 56x
x cubed plus fifteen times x squared plus fifty-six times x
hope this helped

This shape cannot be a cube. A cube has an equal : height, width and length. It must be a rectanglar prism.

What is it that you want to do?
LxH = area of front = (x+8)(x+7)
W*H = area of side = x(x+7)
LxW = area ot top = (x+8)x
L x W x H = Volumn
(x+8)x(x+7)
x(x +8)(x+7) = Volumn
When you have an area or a volumn, you can solve for x

If this were a cube, then all its side lengths (height, width, length) must be the same, or according to your data: (x+8) = x = (x+7).
This is impossible, so please clarify the question.

are you sure this is the complete question?
What about the cube? The volume? Volume = lenght x width x height. Surely you can figure it out from there.

if your trying to find volume then do this
(x+8)(x+7)(x)
multiply the first two out and get
(x^2+8x+7x+56)(x)
combine
(x^2+15x+56)(x)
multiply again and get
x^3+15x^2+56x
