lets say u have a problem like...

(3x+6)/2 = 5(2x+3)/6

what is the first thing i would do to solve this?

i think i would distribute the 5 to the (2x+3) so 10x+15 it will be.
then i must multiply both sides by the denomenators?
do i need to find a common denominator or just multiply each side by the other denominator? then would multiplying by the denominators cancel the bottom then i need to multipy it by the numerators?im confused.

Decathlon Champion. For 1989 and 1990 Dave Johnson had the highest decathlon score in the world. When Johnson reached a speed of 32 ft/sec on the pole vault runway, his height above the ground t seconds after leaving the ground was given by h = -16t^2 + 32t. (The elasticity of the pole converts the horizontal speed into vertical speed.) Find the value of t for which his height was 12 ft.

I got this:

4=(x+10)*(4/x+2/60)
the answer should be
4=(x+10)*(4/x-2/60)

this is the equation for B so why do I subtruct 2 minutes and not add them?
