Let x_n be a sequence of real numbers and w_n a sequence of positive weights. Let s_n = (Sum(i= 1,n ) w_n x_n)/(Sum (i=1, n) w_n) be the sequence of the weighted means of x_n with respect to w_n. Show that, if Sum (w_n) diverges, then in the extended real system, the following inequalities hold:

lim inf x_n <= lim inf s_n <= lim sup s_n <= lim sup x_n

(of course, the middle inequality is always true, and it suffices to show either the left or the right inequality).

Show these inequalities don't need to be true if Sum (w_n) converges.

Thank you for any help

It must fit in a single answer.
Any mathematical operators other than + * ^ ! (for addition, multiplication, exponentiation and factorial respectively) must be clearly defined within your answer.
All words used must be in the American Heritage online dictionary (at www.bartleby.com/61/) or defined in your answer.
The number must be exact and unambiguous.
You cannot refer to physical quantities (such as the number of atoms in the universe, or the speed of light).
It must be finite.
Reference to other people's answers is allowed, as long as it still meets all the other conditions. (eg "all the other answers added together" would win if all the other answers were simple values, but if 2 people wrote that, they would both lose as it becomes a self-referential paradox and therefore ambiguous!)

Good luck, The biggest number wins!

I've done the actual problem on my own, but I'm not sure how to put the answer. It needs to be in "general form"
The answer is 2y=3x+11.
In general form, would it be -3x+2y=11? or do I have it completely wrong and general form is something different? thanks.

Please Help me, I'm very confused, and these don't seem to be coming out right. My textbook and notes aren't helping.

1- [@ = theta] Solve for ALL numeric values of @:

tan @+8/5 + tan@-1/tan @ = 1

2- Prove the identities:

(a.) tan x + cot x/ (cos x) (sin x) = (sec^2 x)(csc^2 x)

(b.) sin 2x= 2 tan x/1+ tan^2 x

3- The angle of elevation from the ground to the top of a toper is 40 degrees. A person then walks 300 meters closer to the tower and the angle of elevation is now 60 degrees. (a) What is the height of the tower (in meters)?
(b) What is the distance from point A to point B the distance the person walks (in meters)?

*Please help explain these to me step by step, I have to understand these concepts for an upcoming exam. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!
