How can I know how many lines of symmetry an object has? For eg a parallelogram or any other figure. how can I know if the object really has lines of symmetry or simple doesn't have any line of symmetry. Also how do we find rotational symmetry of some object?

equation: 4x - 2y^2 = 9

would the equation be:
y= +/- sqrt 4.5 + 2x

if it is, then "y" is not a function of "x" right?

we were given this problem by my maths teacher.basically just tell me what is wrong with this :
a=b+c
a(a-c)=(b+c)(a-c)
a2-ac=ab-bc+ac-c2
a2-ab-ac=ac-bc-c2
a(a-b-c)=c(a-b-c)
a=c
