THEY SAY INDIA ALSO CAME UP WITH THE METRIC SYSTEM ETC. WAS THESE TWO EVENTS MANUFACTURING THE ZERO AND THE METRIC SYSTEM GIVEN TO THE WORLD SIMULTANEOUSLY?

Ten was not written with numerals that you would recognize and I cannot reproduce them here. No metric system and the concept of zero were not developed or given to the world concurrently.

By the way the Mayan's had a concept of zero as well without outside infulence.

The decimal system is a great achievement in Mathematics and Science.
It was invented by Seers or ancient philosophers in India . There is plenty of evidence about this. Later Arab traders learnt this system from Indians and spread it to Europe.

In China, India and Arab, at that time, philosophy and science progressed a lot. West was in dark. However they caught up and made great stride in modern era.

Metric System was first proposed in France, started in Holland. However, time unit has been difficult to 'metricise' .

Before decimal system, there were many representation of ten. Some are

Better not to dig the messy notations and to be thankful to India and Arab countries for the gift of this system to man.

Who says India invented these things? I've never heard of that before.

From books I've read, etc, the metric system was developed and formulated in France in the late 1700's, and modernized and internationalized the metric system in the early 1960's, the SI , Systeme International, also done in France.

The numbers, or numerals, we use now, are originally Arabic, I don't see why they would stumble around, limited at only 9 numerals, only 1 digit numbers, --- the Egyptians since 1000's of years through history were supreme at mathematical discovery, knowledge, skills, technology...They couldn't have done it if they were stuck with only 9 numerals, and only 1 digit numbers. Before the zero, I guess people (cavemen) could just shrug their shoulders to indicate zero (ughhh! sorry honey, no catch any fish today, arghh!), and pieces of sticks or stones to indicate other numbers.

The number ten was represented as a concept of a quantity and did not utilize the 0 as a nil value.Also, India,for all it's great contributions to the world, did not "invent" the meter as a unit of measurement.

Only in the recent years we have began to standardise the symbols, and other science notations......

Some where along the line, some one came up with close loop numbering system with ten symbols.

In English and related systems, they are 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Using + and - we have real number system, as we know it to day.

the concept of zero has nothing to do with ten. they discovered the concept of zero / no value. so before zero, people wrote ten many different ways.
