So the typical answer is that it separated via a straining process, sanitized and taken to an incinerator or landfill. Since landfills are far more popular in the U.S., focus on that. Is it stored separately from the rest of the trash, that is, how is it processed at the landfill?

I'm creating an alarm that needs reed switches to run. Should I buy reed switches that are normally closed, or normally open and create a circuit with an inverter. How hard is it to create a circuit with a logic inverter? Does anyone have any circuit diagrams?

A friend describes his invention for a variable speed tranmission for bicycles, which involves a novel design for a sprocket wheel. This sprocket wheel has a flexible system of spring-like spokes so that it can have an eccentric axle, i.e. the axle is off center with the sprocket wheel. The theory is that the "effective lever arm length" is continuously adjustable. What's the best way to explain why this idea won't work?

I want to contain, insulate, or shield a magetic field. Is there any kind of material that will do that?

I am building a large electromagnet with some metal rods and wire, but I only want to use the north end of the magnet for these particular experiments. Shielding the opposite field from reaching too far isn't completely nessesarry - it would just be far more convienient that way. I dont want to have to worry about the south end backlash and what affects it wold have on anything remotely nearby. (Computers, videotapes, laptops, certain cell phones, etc)
