We dont have underground steam pipes in the UK so I know nothing about them. What are they all about? Do they exist only in NY or in other cities and towns too? Where does the steam come from? What is it for? How is the steam powered? How often do they explode?

If you built a large robot spider and on the top had a tiny set of 8 levers, each one controling a leg of the robot, then you glued a real spider to the top so each one of its legs were attached to a lever. Would the spider be clever enough to control the giant spider robot and take over the world? or would it just kind of sit there in protest at being glued to a giant robot?

1. How can you tell whe it is time to change it?
2. What is the approx. cost to build a new one in that size range? Is there a relationship for cost v. size?
3. How long does it take to build one these days? I hear that steel is hard to get beacuse of the chinese building lots of plants.
4. When is it easier and practical to rebuild one? What do they rebuild inside and why?

Thanks.

Mechanical or aerospace engineering?
hi to everybody, this is my question:

I like aerospace engineering much more than mechanical engineering (but still I like it too), but perhaps aerospace is a very narrow field in which I won't be able to find many job opportunities or as much as if I were to study mechanical engineering. besides I think (eventhough I'm not completely sure) one can pursue a mechanical engineering degree which focuses/relates to the aerospace industry.

I will welcome any comments you may have and thank you very much

If a voltage source is applied to the output of the op-amp (with NO feedback to the input), what happens to the circuit/device? Does the signal just go straight to ground or open circuit? Or does it cause the op-amp to break down because of high current, etc?
