Can Massive Ice Comets vaporize in the thermosphere before reaching the lower layers of atmosphere.
If so, and that vaporized H20 condenses again to fall to the Earth's surface, would that rainfall , fall slower than the velocity it has when it was part of an Icy Comet that hit the thermosphere.
IN OTHER WORDS, would the rainfall cause less kinetic energy than if was still a solid material speeding to the Earth's surface.

The reason for the question - seeing that earth was a supercontinent (Pangea) What is now known as South Africa or in that case Cape town and Table Mountain it must have been connected / joined to a different country somewhere in South America. If Table Mountain is not really a Mountain - but was formed because of erosion there should be a similar piece of land somewhere else, shouldn't there? Or then when did this erosion take place to form "Table Mountain"

Today at work around 2pm I heard a loud rumble just like an earthquake and I looked around to see if anyone was just pushing a desk or something heavy but nobody was. It lasted about 10 seconds and the girl next to me heard it too. Nothing shook at all and then it stopped. When I got home I checked the earthquake report website and indeed there was a 2.0 earthquake about 20 miles from here.

Can you hear an earthquake but not feel it?
