....and can you explain to me why? I assume it's CH3COOH, because I believe it's a weaker acid, but I am not sure if that is right.

Hydrogen cyanide is prepared commercially by the reaction of methane, CH4(g), ammonia, NH3(g), and oxygen, O2(g), at high temperature. The other product is gaseous water.
(a) Write a chemical equation for the reaction. (Type your answer using the format CO2 for CO2. Use the lowest possible coefficients.)
2CH4(g) + 2NH3(g) +3 (O2 g)2HCN(g) + 6H2O(g)

(b) What volume of HCN(g) can be obtained from 70.0 L CH4(g), 70.0 L NH3(g), and 70.0 L O2(g)? The volumes of all gases are measured at the same temperature and pressure.

There's a video on youtube.com of people setting water on fire after AA batteries were soaking in it for 30 minutes.... is it that dramatic? I thought both the gases hydrogen and oxygen produced from that would explode, not burn.

Just wondering about a couple prefixes in my homework. There is one referring to sec sec-butyl chloride. there is also t-amyl iodide and n-butyl bromide. Just wondering what those prefixes mean, I tried looking them up in the book but really didn't see anything. If someone could please answer what each of those prefixes mean it would be greatly appreciated.

My boyfriend brought up a quirky little question: When a person inhales a scent (good or bad), and they exhale, either through the nose or mouth, does that scent come back out and is then detectible, is it absorbed into the lining of the nose, or was only the air inhaled in the first place and the scent not really "inhaled?"

I know bases include all metal oxides and metal hydroxides. But how about alkali? Does all metal oxides and metal hydroxides also can called as alkali as long as it's soluble? Or alkali only include metal hydroxide that is soluble? Thanks.
