Okay, I need help because my research found nothing. Part of a project I have is to make a marker line on a piece of paper and dip the paper in water to see how many colors it bleeds (it basically makes a colorful butterfly when done properly). So how does that work? Is it diffusion or something else? And why does it bleed different colors?

If atoms are truely neutral there should be no electrostic attraction between them. Then what make them to form co-valent bond? To be precise, I want to know what kinds of physics lie behind this process.

For a project I'm doing I need molten metal. This means I need a source of metal that is relatively easy to get and has a low melting point, I then need a way to melt it.

You are given 5 labeled test tubes containing gases. Your partner inadvertently spilled water over the labels causing the ink to run and smudge. The teacher demanded that you both determine, with out her help, the identity of each of the gases. Plan and design an experiment to determine the identity of each of the gases.
Clues:
a) The white gas in test tube 1 is an acidic gas with a choking smell.
b) Test tube two contains a neutral gas used to preserve snacks.
c) Test tube 3 contains a soluble alkaline gas
d) Test tube 4 also contains an acidic gas, but one that is weakly acidic.

my teacher and i were having a discussion on this topic a while back, and i tried to find the answer by yahoo searching. i never could, i can't remember exactly what element in pepto-bismol, that im looking for. if i do find out ill post it.
they say that if arsenic is ingested deposits can be found in nails and hair. that's one way you tell of arsenic poisoning, if one of the main chemicals in pepto-bismol is in the same family then will it do the same when ingested?
