For a project I'm doing I need molten metal. This means I need a source of metal that is relatively easy to get and has a low melting point, I then need a way to melt it.

use TIN ! mp=231.9 °C (505.05 K, 449.41998 °F)
you can really melt it heating in a little pot in the kitchen. you can get it in any electronic equipment store.

if you use mercury remember that it's highly toxic if you breathe the vapours.

if you want to spend a little money more there are some websites that sell gallium alloys with a melting point of 37° C ! Watch out, some of the alloys are toxic and some not. It's nice to melt a piece of metal with just your hand !
