You are given 5 labeled test tubes containing gases. Your partner inadvertently spilled water over the labels causing the ink to run and smudge. The teacher demanded that you both determine, with out her help, the identity of each of the gases. Plan and design an experiment to determine the identity of each of the gases.
Clues:
a) The white gas in test tube 1 is an acidic gas with a choking smell.
b) Test tube two contains a neutral gas used to preserve snacks.
c) Test tube 3 contains a soluble alkaline gas
d) Test tube 4 also contains an acidic gas, but one that is weakly acidic.

Only when the sample is impure that is it contains moisture.

b) N2 --- nitrogen

c) NH3 -- ammonia

d) CO2-- carbon dioxide

e) I2 - - - Iodine
