I am living in Italy for a semester. I bought a bottle of Absolut Vodka from the supermarket yesterday, put it in the freezer like I always do, and when I opened up my freezer the vodka in the bottle was frozen almost completely solid, I'd say at least 95% frozen. I was under the impression that it was impossible for hard liquor to freeze, and have never seen it happen before. What gives?!

Is it polar or nonpolar?my notes tell me it's nonpolar and that only polar covalent bonds dissolve in water.
I say it's nonpolar. It dissolves in water. I'm confussed on this one. Can anyone explain. Thanks

Here nitrogen presents symbolically as positive valence in nitrate molecule.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrate

Here hydrogen cyanide HCN needs a negative valence to form with postive valent carbon and hydrogen, but as seen above, nitrogen is postively valent.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanide

So I guess the real question is, is an electron forced into the molecule at chemical joining reaction in HCN formation, or is an electron ejected for nitrate formation. I can not seem to mathematically resolve for the insufficiency of electron/protron differential needed for electro atomic attraction.
