c-dubs is correct. Also, while WD-40 works, i prefer to avoid it since it has a number of harsh components which may damage your possibly valuable knife. Brasso and the other metal polishers/rust removers also work better.
There is no real way to "reverse" rust, so you must rub it out which is what the metal polishers do. Remember, after you polish it off, to coat the blade in a light oil to prevent rust formation.

There are lot of man made rust removal sprays-like WD-40(OKS),RUSTOLENE and more.But it all depends upon the rust deposites.
The best way to remove rust is to remove it by hydrochloric acid.
Even if , you can remove rusting from clothes using mild hydrochloric acid.
For rust removal you can add detergent powder with dilute HCl.

Use a semi-abrasive polish like Brasso and then put a very very thin coat of Three-In-One oil on it to prevent rusting. It is important to not put too much oil on the blade because it will drain into your pocket. So...thin is the word.

wrap the blade in silver foil paper...and boil for a while....d silver coating of the foil paper coats the rusted blade leaving it as good as new
