pH is just a measurement of the concentration of Hydrogen protons in solution [H+]. Its just a mathematical formula: pH = -log[H+]. There's a fact that says that the concentration of hydrogen protons times the concentration of hydroxide ions MUST equal 10^-14, [H+][OH-] = 10^-14. Do the math, you get a range of 1 to 14
