I assume you're asking about natural gas. As mined, it's mostly methane, but can have several additional constituents in varying amounts (after all, it IS "natural"). However, as delivered to your house, many of these have been removed or at least reduced in concentration and it's almost but not quite pure methane with an added odorant (a mercaptan) for safety. See the ref.

The piped natural gas is methane. Bottled gas is propane. Cigarette lighters use butane which is also used to pressurise aerosol spray cans. The old coal gas used to be a mixture of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon compounds

Did your landlady understand you have been shifting out in this date? Did she understand you would be having the gas account taken out of your call in this date? if so, your landlady is the guy who made a dumb mistake by no longer having the gas switched into her call so it might save working once you moved out. Or making useful the gas became in the subsequent tenant's call ideal away so there became no cessation of gas provider. if your tenancy ended on the instant, you haven't any longer any criminal accountability to make useful the warmth is on after on the instant. If there is warmth on in the downstairs, i think of the region could be ok.

Its proper name is domestic gas and its composition varies from one area to another. In some areas it is natural gas, in othe areas it is produced from coal. Both are mixtures of methane and carbon monoxide.
