Saprophytic = feeds on dead host
Parasitic = feeds on living host

Lichen feeds on live trees (parasitic) and rocks which are inanimate (saprophytic)

they are all over the tree and drop down onto the driveway. they do not have wings but little 'feelers'. they kind of look like those little bugs you find under logs or stuff thats been in the same place for a long time except they are white but when they get squashed, their blood is blackish colour. i have read about aphids and adelgids but they dont look the same. any ideas???

albescens mutation in palm produces white mesocarp when ripe, rather bright orange when ripe, which occurs in the wild type fruit. fruit with white mesocarp crossed with fruit with orange mesocarp. fruits harvested from one tree after 3 years are all red. 500 red: 0 white. What does this suggest about inheritance of the albescens trait? selving red produces ratio of 3 red: 1 white. what conclusion can be made about genetype of original parents for this trait?
