Ask yourself what likes sunlight, warmth, and moisture...

The answer is just about everything.

Bacteria and mold will undoubtedly start happily reproducing on your fruit. A passing animal may happily go for it. And failing that, the fruit itself will probably be happy to start trying to turn into a plant - that's what the fruit is FOR (at least as far as most trees are concerned), after all!

we store fruits in dark, cool and dry place since the activity of micro organisms and thus the decomposition gets slower and also the catabolic process of respiration in the fruit itself becomes very much slow!

Dark to prevent sprouting, cool to inhibit bacteria (and slow down the fruit's own enzymes), and dry to inhibit mold.

For fruit to grow then it first needs light and water. So we keep these things away from it to keep it in seed form as long as poss. The coolness, basically, keeps it refrigerated.

produce is usually picked before it is ripe. after packing and shipping off to local supermarkets, stored in a warehouse for a while, the produce is ripe and ready to consume.

To make it stay fresh longer. Decompose slower. Grow mold slower. Not stink as soon.
