We all know that from time to time stars cease to exist. My question is what happens to the constellation if one of its major stars were to disappear? Say for instance one of the stars of Orion's belt.

For example, the gravity of the Earth "tethers" the moon and the gravity of the sun "tethers" the Earth. The root of my question is what keeps the moon from being pulled away from the Earth when it travels to the sun side of the Earth.

Is this what causes the elliptical orbit of the moon, and if so does this mean gravity has some sort of elasticity like a rubber band.

While many people argue whether or not aliens "exist", others who are well beyond that point ask WHY are some alien races are creating alien-human hybrids?

Is it to improve themselves? Is it to improve us, and we're merely their creation? Is it to merge our biological defenses against micro-organisms? It may be something well beyond our understanding, but we can still speculate. Their technology may be well beyond ours, but perhaps not to the point where we cant obtain at least a vague idea of their intentions.

I read that scientists are able to split a couple of sub-atomic particles, which normally exist together, place these particles in different laboratories and manipulate one of them, resulting in exactly the same changes occuring in the other one, despite it being physically seperated. Could anyone tell me a little more about these experiments please. Thankyou.

Now my real question is why aren't we all sucked up and out through the so-called "hole in the ozone"...or better yet, through the hole that a space ship creates when it breaks out of our atmosphere?....Just wondering...

Well as school has started once again and I basically lost most of my knowledge on astronomy (and my friend stole her book back) I need to know some good textbooks or just regular books that I can buy secondhand so I can study from them. Thanks :)

Oh and I'm not a beginner/novice, so please don't recommend something like Astronomy for Dummies :D

The earth and moon rotate around a common center of mass called the barycenter as they revolve around the sun. However, since the mass of the earth is about 80 times the mass of the moon, the barycenter is much closer to the center of the earth than the center of the moon. In fact, the barycenter is located within the earth, about 1707 km below its surface.

I thinki that underground colonies would be 10 times safer than domed colonies, on the surface there is massive sand storms, high levels of solar radiation, and greater chances of meteors that could shatter the dome and breach the internal atmosphere, and with a underground colony the massive amount of soil would offer natural protection from high radiation, sand storms, and even protection from meteors, so i would say i would feel safer living in a underground colony than on the surface, what about you, would you live on the surface of Mars or underground on Mars?

Is this authentic footage (it looks kind of too perfect)? If so perhaps it could be experimental anti-grav craft from the US Gov or it could be the Annunaki coming back if you believe Zecheria Sitchin or it could really be from outside of our solar system.
I believe in the possibility of life elsewhere in our universe, but that life having the capability to travel light years rapidly I'm kind of skeptical about. However, since humans can postulate the possibility of rapid interstellar travel, then it seems probable that a more advanced civilization than ours could possibly achieve rapid interstellar flight to visit us. For what we do know on the subject of extra-terrestrial intelligence google--Fermi Paradox; SETI. Thanks for intelligent open-minded answers.
