I think it's gravity acts like a natural "circulation pump"...giving us our weather patterns and a "self-cleansing" property that wouldn't exist without the lunar gravity and tidal influences.
Think about it!

The temperature at which pure tungsten melts is about 3400 K. Assuming the filament of an incandescent light bulb has an operating temperature safely below this value, say 2900 K, at what wavelength does its spectrum peak? The filament has a diameter of 0.3 mm and a length of 10 cm. What is the wattage of the light bulb?

If thermodynamics states that everything tends to move toward a lower state of energy by expanding, becoming more disordered, and colder, then why within space do we see complex ordered and hot structures.
It would seem to me that stars break the laws of thermodynamics becuase a cold dispersed cloud of gas clumps together tightly to heat up and form heavier more complex elements. Does this seem backward to anyone else? Is gravity missing within the laws of thermodynamics, and if so it it were added would you be able to predict the formation of galaxies and their distributions based soley on thermodynamics?

escape velocity for the earth refers to the minimum speed an object must have to leave the earth and never return. The escape velocity for the moon is about one-fifth what it is for the earth due to the Moon's smaller mass. Explain why the moon has practically no atmosphere.

The Big Rip: New Theory Ends Universe by Shredding Everything

Their answer is that the eventual, phenomenal pace would overwhelm the normal, trusted effects of gravity right down to the local level. Even the nuclear forces that bind things in the subatomic world will cease to be effective.

"The expansion becomes so fast that it literally rips apart all bound objects," Caldwell explained in a telephone interview. "It rips apart clusters of galaxies. It rips apart stars. It rips apart planets and solar systems. And it eventually rips apart all matter."

He calls it, as you might guess, the Big Rip.

ex. a car gaining 60 mph every second eventually it will go so fast that all the parts of the car willl rip or break

so let me get this str8 a billion years from now the universe will juss rip and kill us?
