from what i have learned in history, the world was supposed to end a lot of times. no one knows when it will happen or how it will happen, there are a lot of theories. and there is more then one calender out there. so far, the only thing that has ended was civilizations. the end of one and the beginning of another. that in it self is going on today, look at Irac. If you are worried about the second coming of Jesus, then i advise you take out you Bible, and start reading and praying. if you are not worried about that, and just wondering when the world will come to an end, well, scientist and geologist have proven the world is over doe for an ice age and a poll change. that can happen at any time. So, what is keeping that from happening?

It is the Mayan calendar, not the Aztec calendar. And it does not say the world will end. It only comes to the end of a major cycle, like our calendar did when it ticked over from 1999 to 2000. It does not mean the world will end. It is just another way of counting days. Here is a quote from the source:

According to the Maya, there will be a baktun ending in 2012, a significant event being the end of the 13th 400 year period, but not the end of the world.

WHY THE AZTEC PEOPLE SAY DECEMBER 21. IT CAN'T HURT TO BE READY, OUR DAY COULD COME TODAY. According to their beliefs, the planets tell the story of creation, death, and birth. astronomically speaking excerpt, "However, the accuracy of the conjunction of 2012 is quite astounding, beyond anything deemed calculable by the ancient Maya, and serves well to represent the perfect mid-point of the process (In the Milky Way, keep your eye on space telescopes for clues)... The field is now reduced from a horizon-to-horizon view to a field of 30 degrees. Part of the constellation of Sagittarius can be seen in the lower left portion of the chart. The planet in the middle-to-upper left portion of the chart is Pluto, which rarely travels directly along the ecliptic. The center square near the sun is placed on the Trifid Nebula (M20). According to the star chart I used, this nebula is very close to the crossing point of Galactic Equator and ecliptic. However, a small star (4 Sgr) is even closer; it sits right on the Galactic Equator and its declination is only 00 .08' below the ecliptic. .."

Hey, no one has asked this in the last 8 hours. That's a record. Their calendar for the "Old Era" runs out then and they never did a calendar for the New Era. You see, they had such a great view of the future that they never saw their own extinction. I have a calendar from Barnes & Noble that runs out in Feb of 2008. Does that mean that's the end of the world?

It's the Mayan calendar, not Aztec. The Mayan calendar has many things on it that correspond to past world events, which make it seem like it somehow can accurately predict events. The calendar reaches the time zero axis on 2012, so only time will tell what is to unfold.

Do you think that God is here on Yahoo Answers? Who do you think would know the answer to this. Anyone who actually claimed to know the answer would be a candidate for the loony bin.
