Or is the term "meteorites" reserved only for those objects that enter earth's atmosphere far enough to reach the ground?

Do you believe we could travel to distant solar systems, stars, or galaxys in the not so distant future..?

Ok, we have done the whole hubble thing and the MIR and all, why not go back to the moon and create a long term base with a super large Telescope consisting of multiple mirrors spread out over the moons surface all focusing on a single point? In addition the moon base could be used as a launch pad to further parts of the solar system or even beyond it. A large electric rail gun or solid fuel launch pad from the moon would enable much higher speeds than launches from earth. How about a solid fuel launch precluding a nuclear ion drive system? Or a rail gun to Ion drive?
While we are at it, the moon can be used for research for long term, we could also bore down under the moons surface to shield us from Solar Flares and radiation.

Personally I think we should do stuff like this today, and not leave it to our great grand kids.

I mean, I've heard about how the government faked the whole moon mission thing. I personally believe the missions were real, however it seems to me that it would be so easy to prove. Why NASA hasn't done something like this before is strange. Maybe they have and I am the only one who doesn't know it?

I for one think it is rediculous to think that humans are the only intelligent beings in this universe. That of all the more than billions of planets out there that only earth produced intelligent beings.
I think there are beings out there that are much more advanced than us humans. I think the reason that they haven't discovered us yet is beacause we haven't done anything that would draw them to us.
I think we are just too small and insegnifcant for them to notice us.

Seriously! Here is a guy that is a math whiz that can't seem to figure out that we will fly past 100 years in 5 generations or less. Nearly everyone reading this right now will one day meet many people that will be alive 100 years from now. I mean, I am only 30 years old and I was raised by a woman that knew DOZENS of CIVIL WAR VETS!! 100 years is a very short time, practically an instant when you think of how old earth is. Stephen Hawking really dropped the ball with this question.

We are still filled with excitement!!!! We stood out in our front yard yesterday and watched as the biggest rocket to ever take off on the 4th of July reached beyond the blue skies....Our thoughts and prayers for a safe return are with you the crew of the space shuttle discovery...My kids are still wearing a smile on their faces, even the 3 year old...

Hey, I just was wondering this morning that since everything in math had an oppisite, plus and minus, matter and anti-matter, well could there or is there an anti-universe?

Let's settle this once and for all. If you wave a flag in an airless world, it will go on waving when you let it go because there is no air to dampen the movement.

Not very original, but my personal favorite is Orion. I like how his belt is so straight, and also because the Andromeda galaxy is in the same vicinity and that's my favorite galaxy.
