A puck of mass 86.7 g and radius 3.73 cm slides along an air table at a speed of v = 1.53 m/s, It makes a glancing collision with a second puck of radius 5.12 cm and mass 120 g (initially at rest) such that their rims just touch. The pucks stick together and spin after the collision (b). The angular momentum of the system relative to the center of mass is 6.82e-03 kg*m^2/s.

I know that you have to use w=L/I i know you find the inertia for both pucks and i sort of know but i'm missing somethign the center mass is confusing me.

i found the center mass by doing(r1+r2)*m1/(m1+m2) but how do i put that in Inertia formula

any help is appreciated thanks in advance

Discounting "temporary" effects of ice caps forming and melting through the ice ages and warmer periods, why aren't oceans getting saltier? Is there a meganism that takes salt from the ocean and return it to land? Or are the oceans getting saltier in the long term?

Hi, working through a homework problem but I can't seem to get the answer to this one:

A steel gas tank of volume 0.0700 meters cubed is filled to the top with gasoline at 20 degrees celsius. The tank is placed inside a chamber with an interior temperature of 50 degrees celsius. The coefficient of linear expansion of steel is 12.0*10^-6 and the coefficient of volume expansion for gasoline is 9.50*10^-4 After the tank and its contents reach thermal equilibrium with the interior of the chamber, how much gasoline has spilled?

Any explanation of how to do this problem would be greatly appreciated!

This one seems easy...but I don't think I'm coming up with something solid enough for an official, well-explained proof:

Provide a Counterexample: Every rational number is equal to the product of two irrational numbers

How would you guys go about this seemingly easy counterexample-proof? You obviously can't just say 2*1 = 2 claiming 2 is the product of two rational #'s, right?

In my apartment, the maintenance person badly wired an electric outlet during a repair, and when I went to switch a nearby light on, I was jolted with a full load. I was not wearing shoes for insulation (just socks). I experienced some moderate pain and tingling in the arm. Is there any chance for long term damage? Or can I assume that there are no serious problems as the pain seems to be receding?

Many countries have either st8s or provinces. The U.S., Mexico, & Australia has states. Canada, China, & Papua New Guinea has provinces. Additionally, Japan has prefectures and Russia & Ukraine has oblasts. I just need 2 know if the difference between a province & a st8 has 2 do w/ the type of government in that country. It can't be whether it has a president or prime minister, as Canada & Australia has prime ministers but Australia has states (& 2 territories).
