I did manage to figure out one (I believe anyhow) but I'm not quite sure how to check it.

x^-2 + x^-1 -6 = 0

Now, I've deduced that the answers are x= -1/3 and 1/2, but I'm not feeling confident on how I've plugged them in to check.

of order. Which of the following is the best explanation of how this process can be compatible with the Second Law of Thermodynamics?

Answer choices:
1. Heat is flowing out of the system reversibly, so it is allowed.
2. A higher degree of order means an increase in entropy, which is exactly what the Second Law requires.
3. The surroundings are undergoing changes in the direction of greater disorder.
4. Since no chemical change is taking place, the degree of order is not relevant.
5. Since the process is not occurring at 0 Kelvin, the Second Law is not relevant.
