A friend of mine and I were talking about the virgin Mary, and he mentioned that it is possble, but of course VERY rare, that a woman can get pregnant without sperm. Though this can only result in the birth of a girl as women do not posess the y chromosome needed to produce a baby boy. (Thus having nothing to do with the birth of Jesus, but this isn't my point)

I did some internet searching and found a site where it mentioned an Australian scientist discovered a way to fertalize eggs without sperm, using somatic cells in the body. The cell has two sets of chromosomes, so they need to separate the cell to contain only one set, so it can properly fertalze the egg.

This doesn't confirm my friend's statement, however, as this process requires an outside force, and doesn't sound like it could happen naturally, which was his point all together.

I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of this before, and if they know anything about becoming pregnant naturally without sperm.

Okay, I know you have bigger things to think of than this, but my little boy, who has Asperger's, (a type of autism that includes obsessive thought patterns), really wants to know--if residents of Mars would be Martians, and residents of Earth are earthlings, what would we call residents of Jupiter--Jovians? Jupiterians? He is not going to let this go until I can get an "official" answer. Thank you in advance.

Two objects of masses m and 3m are moving towards each other along the x-axis with the same initial speed of v. The object with mass m is travelling to the left, and the object with mass 3m is traveling to the right. They undergo an elastic glancing collision such that m is moving downward after the collision at right angles from its initial direction. (a) find the final speeds of the two objects (b) What is the angle at which the object with mass 3m is scattered?
