If you are actually interested in the biological basis of emotion triggered changes look to Melvin Konner's book 'The Tangled Wing: Biological Constraints on the Human Spirit'
He discusses the known details of biological responses to fear, grief, parent child bonding, and pair bonding. Much of the work is on primates but some includes work with humans.
There is relevant brain evidence even in elusive emotions like joy and playfullness. Another place to look is in the new field of positive psychology.

Look here so see bibliographic extracts. Chapter 13 covers love or attachment.

When you have butterflies in your belly it means that you are nevous. You want this person to accept you and like you, nontheless. Everyone gets it, so don't worry. Just take it one step at a time. Hope this helped.

This is kind of a scientific guess on my part but I believe the feelings are caused by extra adrenalin in your system as your body prepares for sex.
