I've been pondering this for a while, and aside from adding more mass in the form of matter, can't (until recently) imagine how it could be done. Of course, I'm a COMPLETE novice in physics, which might explain why. But recently, partly inspired by a friend of mine exploring the same problem, I came up with this idea:

I was told once (and have not verified it) that because E=mc^2, and M=e/2^2, that mass increases as speed increases, and approaches infinity as the speed of light is approached. If this is true (and PLEASE correct me if it's not), and if gravity is proportional to mass, then wouldn't it be theoretically possible for gravity to be "generated" by speeding up matter to extremely high levels? Such as in a particle accellerator?

Yes, this is a longshot, and in my mind a somewhat clumsy idea, at least in our day and age with our current level of technology. But would it work?

Fluorine is produced chiefly from fluorite, CaF2. Fluorine can also be obtained as a by-product of the production of phosphate fertilizers, derived from phosphate rock [ 3 Ca3 (PO4)2 . CaF2] . What is the maximum mass of fluorine that could be extracted as a by-product from 1200 of phosphate rock?

Hi there,
I've been having a little bit of trouble with this derivative homework of mine.
It says that f(x) = (-4x -3) / (x^2 -x +4)
I need to find the zeros/roots of this function, and I only got a zero when x= - 3/4...are there any others?

Also, we need to find the intervals on which the function is increasing/decreasing.
I found the first derivative to be (4x^2 +6x -19) / (x^2 -x +4)^2
But I cannot find any x-value where f ' (x) is 0 or undefined...
Therefore I can't find when the function is increasing or decreasing.

I had no trouble with the second derivative and inflection points, but another question asks if the original function has any vertical asymptotes. I cannot find any, but did anyone else?

Okay so I have tried to answer this problem, but I am obviouslly not getting the correct answer.

Suppose a 28.1-mL sample of helium gas at 25 °C and 1.29 atm is heated to 90. °C and compressed to a volume of 15.2 mL. What will be the pressure of the sample?

V1=28.1 ml or .0281L
P1= 1.68 atm
T1= 298K
n1=1.930 mol

V2= 15.2 mL or .0152L
P2= ?
T2= 298K
N2= 1.930 mol

P2=P1XV1/V2

which is 1.29X.0281L/.0152L
= 2.38480 atm

Can someone let me know if I am doing something wrong. I would greatly appreciate it.

Could you help me prove this, please?

We say f:R --> R is uniformly differentiable if, for every eps > 0, there's delta > 0 such that |(f(y) - f(x))/( y - x) - f'(x)| < eps for every x and y such that 0 < | y - x | < delta.

Show that f is uniformly differentiable if, and only if, f' is uniformly continuous on R.

Thank you

I do hope that this is the final peaceful step for settling the confilct so that we can live in an everlasting peace. Some of the cities/ places where such a conference took place were, as far as I can remember: Cairo, Oslo, Madrid, Camp David, Why River and finally Anapolis. But where on earth is Anopolis? Is it the last step? I don't think so.

if people think evolution is real why did evolution stop all of a sudden? why not keep going on. or did it ever really happen maybe it was meant that monkeys be mans best friend instead of the dog... since monkeys have 99.4% of our genes.... and why is it that just the people we came from(monkeys) died off yet there were animals in the wild that out lived.... i mean because if all of them died off and we just keep evolving where did the other monkeys come from.... and of course how can you say that god isnt real and its just a theory... evolution is just a therory because if they only have 99.4% of our genes what happened to the other. they dont havethe full 100% yet we were evolved from them? we would have everything they had... why dont mokeys have the skills we have today.... we evolved from them so wouldnt they have had to have the talking skill first?
