Hey, I've got a math test on Friday and I can't figure out how to find the area of a cardioid by double integration. The instructions for the problem read: Find the indicated area by double integration in polar coordinates. And the problem is 3. The area bounded by the cardioid r=1+cos(theta) . Thanks in advance.

The crystal structure of an ionic compound consists of alternating cations and anions lying next to each other in three dimensions. If the cation radius is 55.9% of the anion radius and the distance between the cation nuclei is 580. pm, what are the radii of the two ions? (Note: This ionic compound is a three dimensional array. The cation to cation, center-to-center distance specified is through the center of the anion.)

This question was asked in the cooking section last year, but it wasn't really resolved. Last night, I was making guacamole and all I had were frozen onions and I didn't want to take the time to thaw them naturally, so I microwaved some chopped onion on a paper plate. A couple of bits started sparking and popping so much that they were a little charred. The onions were not in the microwave for long (30 seconds). Does anybody have any idea what causes this?

In an aortic aneurysm, a bulge forms where the walls of the aorta are weakened. If blood flowing through the aorta (radius 1.0 cm) enters an aneurysm with a radius of 3.1 cm, how much on average is the blood pressure higher inside the aneurysm than the pressure in the unenlarged part of the aorta? The average flow rate through the aorta is 110 cm3/s. Assume the blood is non-viscous and the patient is lying down so there is no change in height.
