In my bathroom at home (south UK) we have a real problem with harlequin ladybirds (NOT native to the UK).

Is there any way to prevent them from coming into the house at all (other than polyfilling all the hairline cracks and having windows and doors permanently sealed)?

I'm asking this because I'd like to know how to get rid of them without using thing spoisonous to humans if at all possible.

I'm asking about the nests because one time my brother discovered 30 of them in a clump on the bathroom ceiling. Plus we seem to get those ladybirds in the house most days.

Please help!

two blocks, of mass m1 = 250 g and m2 = 700 g, are connected by a massless cord that is wrapped around a uniform disk of mass M = 500 g and radius R = 12.0 cm. The disk can rotate without friction about a fixed horizontal axis through its center; the cord cannot slip on the disk. The system is released from rest.

a) Find the magnitude of the acceleration of the blocks.
=.......m/s^2
(b) Find the tension T1 in the cord at the left.
=.......N
(c) Find the tension T2 in the cord at the right.
=........N

I don't know if the stars that make up the dippers are near each other or just line up because of the position we view them from. Since interstellar travel is likely an impossibility perhaps an advanced alien civilization sent the only message it could by spawning suns in a pattern?

2. At noon, a ship sails due north from a point P at 8 knots/hr. Another ship, sailing at 12 knots/hr, leaves the same point 1 hour later on a course 60º east of north. How fast is the distance between the ships increasing at 2:00 PM? at 5 PM? Hint: Use law of cosines : a² = b² + c² - 2bc cos A

Calculate the pH of the solution that results from the addition of 0.020 moles of HNO3 to a buffer made by combining
0.500 L of 0.060 M NH4Cl ( use Ka = 5.60 x 10 -10 )
and 0.500 L of 0.120 M.

The question is apparently cut off at the, but I believe you do not have to necessarily know the substance, since NH4Cl is a salt.

pKa=9.25181

Everytime I have done this problem, I have gotten an incorrect answer. Please help. I have been using the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation to solve this.

(-log(5.60 x (10^(-10)))) + log(.01 / .08) = 8.34872199

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

I thought that maybe if I switched it up (I don't know why), it would work but that is also wrong.

(-log(5.60 x (10^(-10)))) + log(.08 / .01) = 10.154902

I firmly believe that extraterrestrial races have been visiting earth for thousands of years. I have read hundreds of accounts of contact, and carefully reviewed transcripts of radar showing impossible aerodynamics. There are thousands of documented cases, each with hundreds of witnesses. It can't all be a hoax or mistaken identity.

However, when it comes to stories of human contact with aliens, something doesn't seem quite right. I have never read about aliens being fascinated with our culture. You would think that they would comment about the astounding array of human arts, everything from sculptures to modern painting. If aliens really have had contact with humans, why have I never read any account of their impression of our culture?

Also, unless there is some "Prime Directive" about non-interference in another culture (ala Star Trek), why has no alien ever offered some new technology to help make wars obsolete?

Something seems to be amiss. What is your opinion?
