A diving bell has an air space of 3.0m^3 when on the deck of a boat. What is th evolume of the air space when the bell has been lowered to a depth of 50m? Take the mean density of sea water to be 1.025g / cm^3 and assume that the temperature is the same as on the surface.

First I took 1.025g/cm^3 and converted it to kg/m^3. Then I multiplied it by acceleration of gravity so that I could turn it into a pressure. After this I multiplied by 50m to get 50,225 N/m^2, which is 50,225 Pa (P2). Given that STP is 1 bar (10^5 Pa) I designated that P1. V1 is given as 3m^3 so I calculated V2 using P1*V1=P2*V2 but I got an answer that was higher than my original volume which can't be correct.

When rounding to preserve significant figures, why is it that when the digit removed is 5, the preceding number is increased by 1 if it is odd and remains unchanged if it is even? For example, what is the logic in rounding 17.71 to 17.8, but 17.79 to 17.7? Clearly, that is unreasonable!

So I had to find four least common multiples done out below:
a) LCM(8,12) = 24
b) LCM(20, 30) = 60
c) LCM(51, 68) = 204
d) LCM(23, 18) = 414

For each of the LCMs computed above, I have to compare the value of LCM(a, b) to the values of a, b, and gcd(a,b) and find a relationship between the two.

So I've basically calculated the gcds and retrieved the following:
a) gcd(8,12) = 4
b) gcd(20,30) = 10
c) gcd(51,68) = 17
d) gcd(23, 18) = 1

The only relationship I've found is that the difference between a and b is the gcd for them in cases a through c. I was wondering, is there another pattern I should be aware of here?

I'm solving for both b and a
started with:
90+b+a=180
so:
b=90-a
so I substitute it in the original solution:
90+(90-a)+a=180
which goes to
(90-a)+a=90
that's where I get stuck

I can't remember how to keep going to solve for 'a' (it's been a couple years since my last math class)
you don't have to solve it out in the answer, but if you could just tell me what to do. I've been stuck on this for over an hour.
Thanks in advance
