(1) : Y=1/7x+b
(2) : Y=mx+b

You need to eliminate x in this system
mY = mx/7 + mb (multiply by m)
-Y/7 = -mx/7 - b/7 ( multiply by -1/7)

Then add,
mY - Y/7 = mb - b/7
mY - Y/7 = b(m - 1/7)

b = Y(m - 1/7)/(m - 1/7)
Y = b if m is not equal to 1/7

give x a value..so just say x=1 and then mx would be 1/7 then subtract mx from Y...then you have b

You simply can't. IF you had the coordinates of one point of this line you would need to replace the values of x and y and then you can find B.

For instance, if ( 2; 1) was a point of this line you ould need to do the following.

1 = 1/7 * 2 + b

1 = 2/7 + b

b= 1 -2/7

b= 5/7

But without a point, it is impossible.

In the first one,
b = Y - (1/7)x
In the 2'nd one
b = Y - mx

b = y - 1/x
and you are done unless more info is given like a point (x,y) with actual values.
