I am a senior at the university of toledo and im pretty close to graduating. This past summer semester i had a laboratory class involving mechanics of materials and mechanical vibrations. I had took my vibrations class in summer of 2006 and did ok in it, but after taking the lab class, i realized that the teacher did not teach us anything useful. I was the only one in the class that didnt have a clue what was going on. I mean i had no idea what mode shapes were and how to solve problems involving them.

After taking this lab class and barely getting through with the vibrations part of it, ive started thinking that maybe i should go back and take the class again with a teacher that i know teaches the class well.

My question is, in your opinion, would this be a good idea, or a waste of time? I dont think i want to do design work when i finish school, nor do i want to do research and development. I kinda think i want to go into manufacturing or process engineering.

I have 2p& (C5), 3n3 332 (C4), 10n 103 (C3), 22n 223 (C2), and 22p (C6) ceramic capacitors for an FM transmitter. How do i tell which sides are positive/negative?

There are no markings on them. Both leads are the same length.

The only markings are the label of the capacitor and there are some with black on the tips of the capacitor.

Does it matter if I place them turned the opposite way?

Thanks.

I know many changes were made to the CSM after Apollo 13, but here's one I am pondering: Did they make a change to the CO2 canisters so they would be interchangeable (after having to scramble to make the CM canisters work in the LM)? Or did they keep it the same and design a ready-made adapter for this purpose maybe??

Lets say I have a 6” metal ring with a free wheeling ball bearing (bb) (1” in diameter, about 0.03kg) in it and a 3” rotor arm attached to a motor at the center of the ring. As the rotor spins it pushes the bb around and the cf forces pushes the bb to the wall of the ring. I rotate the arm at “100” rpm, bb goes around at 100 rpm.

the bb exerts a cf force on the inner face of the ring by running over it. however, is see no cp force acting on this system. The rotor arm pushes the bb around – therefore, always pushing a constant weight of 0.03kg around - however, with increased rpm the bb produces an increased cf force against the ring but there is still no cp force present or acting on the bb? Am I missing something with the rotor arm?
