f(-1) = -(-1)^3 + (-1)^2 + 3(-1) + 4
= -(-1) + 1 - 3 + 4
= 1 + 1 - 3 + 4
= 2 - 3 + 4
= 6 - 3
= 3
f(0) = -(0)^3 + (0)^2 + 3(0) + 4
= 4
f(1) = -(1)^3 + (1)^2 + 3(1) + 4
= -1 + 1 + 3 + 4
= -1 + 8
= 7

f(-1) = -(-1) + 1 + 3(-1) + 4 = 3
f(0) = -(0) + 0 + 3(0) + 4 = 4
f(1) = -(1) + 1 + 3(1) + 4 = 7
This is what we used to call "plug and chug" back in high school. You have the formula and the value for the variable, so evaluating is easy.

If the first 3 and 2 are little and a bit higher then the other letters then:
f(-1) = 3
f(0) = 4
f(1) = 7

If we have a function f(x), and we want to find f(5) for example, all we have to do is substitute the value of 5 to all the x's in the function.
(a) f(-1)= -(-1)^3+(-1)^2+3(-1)+4
.............= 1+1-3+4
.............= 3
(b) f(0)= -(0)^3+(0)^2+3(0)+4
............= 0+0+0+4
............= 4
(c) f(1)= -(1)^3+(1)^2+3(1)+4
...........= -1+1+3+4
...........= 7

f(-1)=-(-1)*3+(-1)*2+3*(-1)+4=
=3-2-3+4=2
f(0)=0+0+0+4=4
f(1)=-1*3+1*2+3*1+4=6
