Why is it that three weeks after the Solstice dawn is still later than it was then? Sure, the daylight is longer because sunset is later in the afternoon, but the latest dawn doesn't arrive until about New Year's Day and today's is only 3 minutes earlier than it was on Jan 1. Why don't dawn and sunset widen after the shortest day at an equal pace?

Cathy has a collection of dimes and quarters. The number of dimes equals the number of quarters. She has a total of $2.80. How many of each coin does Cathy have?
[Hints: Let n = number of dimes. Since each dime has a value of 10 cents, the value of n dimes is 10n. Since the number of quarters is also n, the value of n quarters is 25n. Also change the value of $2.80 into cents.]

I need help on a few identity problems that I consider EXTREMELYchallenging and confusing. Here they are:

Note: I used the letter "O" in replacement for theta.

> (cotO / 1 - tanO) + (tanO / 1- cotO) = 1 + tanO + cotO
> sinOcosO / cos²O-sin²O = tanO / (1-tan²O)
> sinO-cosO+1 / sinO+cosO-1 = sinO+1 / cosO
> secO-cosO / secO+cosO = sin²O / 1 + cosO
> (tanO-cotO) / (tanO+cotO) + 2 cos²O = 1
> secO / 1 + secO = 1 - cosO / sin²O

Thanks for your help!
