Probably within seconds after a very short proverbially sweet courtship consisting of growling to frightnosaurs vulnerable for attack and certain death. (QNH's hypothesis)

I tried to scour the net for recent studies on dinosaurs especially with the recent findings in China of winged variety fossils of dinosaurs. All I found out was that they found birds of different sexes.

Research needs a lot of money
---------------
"Worldwide there's been very little money put into dinosaur research in the past or in the present," said Currie. "Canada is a very special place because we have some of the richest resources in the late Cretaceous anywhere in the world, and there really should be a focus on that in our museums and universities."

Joining the U of A just last month, Currie has worked extensively on the discovery of feathered dinosaurs in China, meat-eating dinosaurs in Argentina, and on a pack of a dozen Albertosaurus from the badlands of central Alberta. The more than half-dozen species of feathered dinosaurs so far discovered "cover the range of meat-eating dinosaurs we have here in Alberta."

Why dont you become an archaelogist ? Maybe after a few years, we will find the result of your thesis for your doctorate on waning sexual practices of dinosaurs. which resulted eventually in their extinction.
Wait- I have another theory, maybe the act of mating was accomplished in mid air away from the pack . Thus the dinosaurs evolved into birds..

The truth is that we don't really know!
When the BBC "filmed" "Walking with the Dinosaures", they asked the same question to paleontologists... who did not have a clue.
So it was trial and error, bone analysis and "probable conclusions".
"Walking with the dinosaures" is a fanstastic series (and very close to probable reality), but "the making of walking with the dinosaures" is probably the best part of the series, as it explains the problems that faced the researchers.
A Must-to-see if you want the most "probable answer" (and available on DVD. Check Ebay or Amazon.

Couple hundred thousand years down the road, some random life-form that's dominating the Earth would be asking the same damned question about The Human Beings.
