Our sun did not "create" life on Earth, but life on Earth might not have begun without the sun.

A planet has to be about twice as big as Pluto to be large enough to be considered a planet and has to orbit the sun in a regular pattern. It can be rock or it can be gaseous. Without the sun there could be no life on earth but the sun is not an animate beings that can create life. Life is believed by many scientists to have began from amino acids, nonliving substances, that through many chemical chain reactions over many millions of years changed into things modern science defines as a living thing.
