A ball is dropped from the top of a 40 m high building. At what INITIAL VELOCITY must a second ball be throw from the top of the building 2.00 s later, such that both balls arrive at the ground at the same time??

Givens...
delta y = -40m
initial velocity of 1st ball = 0 m/s (dropped)

Needs...
initial velocity of second ball = ???

I have no idea on how to do this?!?! i think i have to make two equations equal to each other but i dont think i can because the second ball came 2 seconds later. Please help.

delta x = (Vix)(t)
Vix= Vi cos(pheta
Vy(final velocity) = Viy -gt
delta y = viyt - 1/2gt^2
Vy^2 = Viy^2-2g(delta y)
Viy = Vi sin(pheta

Have you read any books by Richard Dawkins, Stephen Jay Gould, or any of the other myriad scientists who have written books that explain evolution (Daniel Dennett, Lynn Margulis, Ernst Mayr, E.O. Wilson, Niles Elderidge, etc.)

(And I don't mean reading a couple of paragraphs, but an actual a start-to-finish read.)

If so, what was unconvincing about what you read? Did you find them poorly written? Badly researched? Bad use of sources? Bad science?

in terms of atmospheres. i mean, mars' gravity could only keep hold of so much atmospheric gas.

hmm. let's see. we can figure out the gravitational strength by looking up the acceleration due to gravity on mars, which is 3.69 m/s2 at the equator, as compared to 9.81 m/s2 for earth. so the gravity strength is about a third of earth's - does that mean mars can only support a third of earth's atmosphere? if it does, that means it can only support an atmospheric pressure of about 0.3 ATMs, which is pretty much nothing...can humans live in an environment of 0.3 atms?

I have never seen anything like this in my life!!! Continous flashing; saw a ball of fire shoot through it, doesn't seem natural. By the way, no rain in the forecast. Wish I knew what this is; very spooky.

Please help with Chemistry problems?
I need help with the following 2 problems. Please show how you got the work.

1.Calculate the masses of 0.005 mol Pb(NO3)2 and 0.005 mol oft K2CrO to 0.01 g.

2.The exhaled carbon dioxide produced as a normal waste product of metabolism must be removed from the cabins of space vehicles. On the space shuttle, CO2 is removed from the cabin air by lithium hydroxide, which reacts as follows:

2 LiOH(s) + CO2(g) -----------> Li2CO3(s) + H2) (l)

What mass of CO2 can be removed from the atmosphere by 1.00 lb(454 g) of LiOH?

Also, any advice on this next one would be greatly appreciated..
