My little brother-in-law needs help with his algebra. It's been a long time since I've used algebra, so could someone help me figure out how I would go about solving a problem like this:

3x = 1/4

(three times X = one-fourth)

Solving for X, of course. Thank you!!!

I wish I had more characters to work with...anyway, since when you are in debt, you have a negative amount of money, what would happen if you had to pay the square root of that? (this is sort've like the "If three people are in a room, and five leave, how many have to return for the room to be empty?")

If they made up a number that was sqr. rt. of -1 (i), which you supposedly can't do, why not make up a number that's 1/0, which you can't do either. Is it because imaginary numbers are actually useful in physics?

Please do not say 100 degrees (F), because I'm sure this is not the answer. But if you do please explain, remember doubling the number does not equate to doubling the warmth.I don't know if you would have to use Absolute Zero as a base or what?

Given: Angle 1 = Angle 2
Prove: Angle 2 supplements angle 3

1. Angle 1 supplements angle 2 (given)
2. Angle 1 + angle 2 =180 (Definition of supplement)
3. 180- angle 1= angle 2 (Subtraction prop. of equality)
4. 180 - angle 3= angle 2 (Substitution prop. of equality)
5. Angle 3 + angle 2= 180 (Addition prop. of equality)
6. THEREFORE, angle 2 supplements angle 3 (Definition of supplement)
