"Using what you know about volume, mass, and density determine the volume of your body." I've been talking with a few friends, and the only thing we can come up with is using water displacement. Any other ideas?

1. give mininum value of the function:

f(x) = 7e^(5x) + 5e^(-5x)

2. what is the derivative of f at x=0?

f(x) = 5xe^(4x + 2ln2)

i keep getting zero for no. 2. i know what's not the correct answer. =(

you plan to use a square section of a park for a small outdoor concert. The section should have an area of 1450 square feet. You have 150 feet of rope to use, to surround the section. Do you have enough rope. Explain your reasoning.

I've recently picked up an interest in the evolutionary need for aging. I realized that we seem to age intentionally as all different animals have different aging rates. I've done some reading but my idea hasn't come up and I want to know if it's been researched.

Because resources are scarce, the size of a population of any given creature is limited. As a result creatures with a long life expectancy essentially prevent large youthful populations and necessarily must reproduce at a slower rate(right?). My hypothesis is this: Let's say creature A has a long life expectancy while creature B has as short one. Creature B gets to be naturally selected several times per creature A generation. These shorter lived creatures would evolve more quickly and so they would eventually outcompete A and could cause its extinction. Has this benefit of aging been tested? rejected? Are there sources? Any logical flaws in my hypothesis?

NOT USEFUL: thought: two black holes, one above the other, drop the ball down the bottom one, it comes out the top one and goes back throught the bottom one and around and around again, even if this amazing feat could be achieved, how could you harness the energy.. (needless to say if you could produce two "worm holes" you probably aint gonna bother dropping a metal ball down one for you amusement..(though you never know , could be a desk ornament by the year 4006,

bearing in mind:
There are three laws of thermodynamics: you can't get something for nothing, you can't win, and you have to lose. The first law says you can't produce matter or energy from nothing; they are conserved. The second says the amount of entropy in the universe can only increase. The third notes that friction exists, so entropy does increase

Publish on here your town, State and country, and if you have a contactable account on Yahoo, I will send you details of how to see them - date/time and where to look in the sky.

In the past I have seen both, soon after the shuttle left the ISS. It was quite a great sight, with the shuttle trailing the space station across the sky. Both were as bright as the brighter stars, so easy to see.

It will happen sometime 17/18 Sept.
